Since our founding in 1972, Interac has enriched the careers of tens of thousands of people in teaching positions throughout Japan. To keep the momentum of our business, we developed a strong global and domestic recruiting business function.
Domestically, Interac recruits and employs hundreds of new teachers each year. Although our hiring in Japan is highly concentrated around spring and fall, which is aligned with the Japanese school year, our domestic recruiting activities are largely ongoing.
Outside of Japan, we rely on a network of vendors to provide recruiting services. We have representatives based in, or regularly visiting, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland. In the Philippines, we are exclusively represented by Chesham Recruitment Inc. in Manila. We do not have any direct representation in Australia or New Zealand. In these and other markets where native-level English speakers reside, we carry out our recruiting online.
The job of our recruiters, including our overseas vendors, is to find qualified candidates for our teaching opportunities in Japan and provide information on and reasons for joining us. You should expect our recruiters to talk about opportunities in Japan in positive but realistic terms. It’s a recruiter’s job to answer any and all questions. If you ask a question the recruiter can’t answer personally, he or she will get back to you with the answer. Many of our recruiters’ connection with Japan and Interac began when they themselves were ALTs. This means they are well placed to offer the best advice and insights on a career in Japan.
